A guide for Northern Michigan homeowners

Keep your countertops.
Give them a custom finish.

If you like your kitchen layout but the countertops feel dated, resurfacing may be worth considering. Timeless Luxe Coats creates custom epoxy finishes for suitable existing countertops in Petoskey, Boyne City and nearby Northern Michigan communities.

Start with the surface you have.

A countertop needs a stable foundation before the decorative finish begins. Loose sections, damaged edges, swollen material, seams and the areas around sinks all deserve a closer look. An epoxy finish should be planned around the condition of the countertop.

Most properly prepared surfaces may be candidates, but the right first step is to show Branden what is there. Include a photo of the whole countertop and close-ups of damage, corners, seams, sink edges and the backsplash. That helps distinguish a straightforward refresh from a project that needs repairs or another approach.

Choose a direction that fits your room.

Your design can begin with a quiet marble-inspired look, soft stone colors, bold metallic movement or a more artistic palette. Cabinet color, flooring, lighting and the backsplash can all help guide the choice. Bring two or three reference images and point out what you like about each one.

TLC's finishes are created by hand. Reference images help communicate the style; the finished movement and detail belong to your own project.

Compare the full scope.

A useful quote describes preparation, repairs, edge details, the decorative finish and the protective system. It should also make fixture or plumbing responsibilities clear and explain the planned cure time. These details let you compare proposals on the work being included.

Resurfacing can preserve a suitable existing countertop and avoid replacing its entire foundation. Whether it is the right value for your kitchen depends on the condition, design and work required. Branden will discuss the project before proposing a scope.

Send these five things for a better first conversation.

  1. Your town and the type of space: kitchen, bathroom, bar or another area.
  2. Photos of the full surface, edges, seams and any damage.
  3. Rough lengths and widths, plus the backsplash and sink arrangement.
  4. A few finish references or the colors you want to work with.
  5. Your preferred timing and any access or scheduling considerations.

You will work directly with Branden. TLC serves Petoskey, Boyne City, Boyne Falls, Charlevoix, Harbor Springs, Indian River, Cheboygan and nearby communities. Check the service area or text your town and project details.

Common questions

Before you decide

Can you put epoxy over existing laminate countertops?

Many sound laminate countertops can be resurfaced after the right preparation. Loose laminate, swollen areas, moving seams or water damage need to be addressed first. Photos help start the conversation; the final plan depends on inspecting the surface.

What determines the price?

Countertop size, surface condition, repair needs, edges, backsplash details, fixture work and the chosen finish all affect the scope. A written quote is more useful than a price based only on square footage.

How long will my kitchen be out of use?

Preparation, coating and curing each need time. The schedule depends on the selected system and project conditions. Your quote should explain the planned work and when the finished surface can return to normal use.

Will my finish look like another customer's?

The color palette and overall direction can be coordinated, but hand-created movement and veining make each finished piece unique.
